Learn the rules of Spider Solitaire
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Spider Solitaire. Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Look at what changes after your first action. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.
Two decks, one/two/four suits; fill every column before a ten-card stock deal. Free solo play, no wagering.
Give this approach a try
Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Notice the feedback after each input.
The goal to keep in mind
Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Review the board or playing area as it changes.
Making your moves
- Build down by rank. Only descending same-suit groups move together. Empty columns accept any movable group.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
The controls to know
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.
Try this example
A mixed-suit descending stack cannot move as one group. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Read the matching step again.
Check this before moving on
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
