Learn your way around Canfield Solitaire

Read the aim of Canfield Solitaire, then make your first move. Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Read the objective before making your first input. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Thirteen reserve cards, four columns, draw-three recyclable stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Practice with a purpose

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Keep the controls in easy reach.

The order of play

  1. Build tableau runs down in alternating colours, wrapping ace to king. Reserve cards refill empty columns automatically.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Read the example below alongside these instructions.

See the idea in action

With base rank 5, a foundation runs 5 through king, then ace through 4. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Check the stated objective.

An important reminder

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
